Q: What led you to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker?
A: When I was a child, the night before I was about to have surgery, a social worker came talk to me and comforted me. Years later I realized I wanted to be able to provide that same comfort to others.
Q: What is your educational background?
A: I have a bachelor’s of science in Psychology and a minor in sociology from UL. I also have a masters of Social Work from LSU.
Q: What types of clients do you see and what is your ideal client?
A: I see individual adults, adolescents, and children with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and trauma as well as couples. I enjoy working with clients through the use of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
Q: What are your treatment approaches?
A: My treatment approaches include EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Play Therapy. When it comes to couples, I believe in working on communication and emotional intimacy. Those are two very important aspects to solving a problem as a couple.
Q: How and when do you know you are a right fit for a client?
A: I feel that you know right away that there is a connection with you client. When a client says something like, “I can’t believe am about to tell you this” or “I have never told anyone this” then you know that a real connection has formed. In regards to children, I feel that it takes at least two sessions for them to be really comfortable.
Q: What do you consider to be your top three strengths?
A: My top three strengths include authenticity, curiosity and wanting to gain knowledge on subjects, and open mindedness. Not only am I open minded with the clients I work with but also with how to work with clients. For example, learning EMDR which I have become very passionate about.
Q: Which insurance do you accept?
A: I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, and private pay.
Q: Do you see clients through teletherapy?
A: I do! I typically see clients in person but whenever a client wants to utilize teletherapy I am more than happy to accommodate them.
Q: What is your availability to see clients?
A: My availability includes Monday through Thursday from nine to four, half days on Friday, and nine to twelve on some Saturdays.
Q: What would you say to a new client who may be nervous about seeing a new therapist?
A: I want you to know that I have been in your position before and that anxiety can be utilized in a positive manner. Hopefully I can create an experience where you will feel safe enough to be vulnerable. This is a beautiful journey I want to share with you.
