J'Acy approaches counseling as a collaborative and respectful partnership built on trust, empathy, and authenticity. Using a mixture of cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered, and solution-based interventions to help clients begin processes experiences and enact positive changes in their day to day lives.
J'Acy believes that to understand and implement meaningful changes for a fulfilling life, it is beneficial to process past and present relationships. Understanding the impact of those around you can lead to a better understanding of yourself. By improving family understanding of one another and possible barriers to communication, the family unit can find new ways to strengthen each member as needed.
J'Acy prefers an eclectic or integrative therapeutic approach, meaning that she will use a broad scope of interventions and theories that she is competent in to provide the best environment for positive work with the client. Some methods may be Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Internal Family Systems, Person-Centered, Solutions-Based, and Creative Interventions.
My passion in counseling comes from a desire to support and bring awareness to mental health struggles. Breaking down stigmas around mental health disorders and how they impact families is very important to me, as well as supporting those who are struggling with big transitions. Having taught for a year and providing counsel to young individuals with mental health struggles, it is imperative that we bring families together to find solutions. I did live abroad during the pandemic, so I do have a unique understanding of life in a new country, allowing me to understand and provide support to those going through difficult transitions. I throughly enjoy traveling to new lands, trying any food I can at least once, and then trying to recreate that dish!
